 Tallest cupcake tower: Myrtle Beach breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

Myrtle Beach, SC, USA -- At Saturday's 75th birthday party for the City of Myrtle Beach, it took a little more than two hours to build a giant 7500 cupcake display; Myrtle Beach's tower of sweetness topped out at 21 feet, 5 inches, setting the new world record for the Tallest cupcake tower, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the argest cupcake mosaic measures 110.60 m² (1,190 ft² 70.34 in²), and was achieved by Ayer Rajah Community Centre Youth Club (Singapore), at an event held at the Singapore Expo.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest cupcake; it weighs 1,176.6 kg (2,594 lb) and was achieved by Georgetown Cupcake (USA) at Georgetown Cupcake's national shipping headquarters in Sterling, Virginia, USA.

  Myrtle Beach partnered with the TLC hit show "DC Cupcakes" to shatter the Guinness World Record for tallest cupcake tower, previously set at 15 feet, 4 inches.

  Georgetown Cupcakes sisters Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne said it took about 24 hours with a lot of help to bake the 7,524 cupcakes used in the world record cupcake tower.
  The cupcakes were stacked on a 32-level tower more than 20 feet tall and the world record was verified

  Myrtle Beach's tower of sweetness, which was built under a stabilized tent and in winds of up to 30 mph, topped out at 21 feet, 5 inches.

  The desserts were provided by Katherine Kallinis Berman and Sophie Kallinis LaMontagne, stars of the TLC reality series, "DC Cupcakes."

  After the record attempt, the crowd got free cupcakes.
