  Tallest cake: China sets world record (Photos)

LUOYANG, China--It took 20 chefs more than 24 hours to make a giant cake at a mall in Luoyang, in central China's Henan Province, which was composed of eight layers, weighed nearly 2000kg; it standed at eight metres tall, setting the new world record for the Tallest Cake, according to World Record Academy: http://www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the tallest cake was for a 7.8m tall cake, which was made in Paris .

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the tallest cake pyramid; it measured 1.74 m (5 ft 8.5 in) and was achieved by MTR Rzeszów International Fair (Poland) in Rzeszów, Poland .

  It took 500kg of eggs, 260kg of flour, 200kg of cream, 100kg of fruit and 80kg of chocolate to create the giant cake, which was composed of eight layers.

  The final product weighed nearly 2000kg, with each layer supported by a round metal plate. It took 20 chefs more than 24 hours to make the cake.
  Once the eight-tiered cake was carefully put in place, the group of chefs worked from metal scaffolding to decorate the gigantic treat.

  Hundreds of onlookers came to witness the creation of the baked dessert which had to be held in place by metal plates to stop it from toppling over.

  Once the new world record had been confirmed the cake was shared out amongst 3000 people.
