Longest wiffle ball game

PRIOR LAKE, Minn., USA -- 92 Prior
Lake High School
students played wiffle ball non-stop
through two days and two nights - setting the new world record
for the longest
continuous wiffle ball game
, while raising money for
the American Cancer Society.

"We wanted to show that we liked Wiffle
ball," said Chris Sticha, 14, one of the masterminds behind
the event. "We've always wanted to have a record in the World
Records books, so we thought it was the perfect idea."
Incredibly, the score was 328-320. The losing
team made up a 70 run deficit to lose by eight. In the process,
they raised nearly $4,000 for the American Cancer Society.
Participants did two-hour shifts, but many
did multiple shifts. Tommy and Chris Sticha, the event organizres,
solicited donations and sponsors, set up the field and lights,
contacted players, scheduled shifts and made signs. Their
dad, Tom, filmed the event for the Guinness Book of World Records, and mom Sue was in charge of feeding 80 teenagers.
Two years ago, this same group broke
this exact record. A year later, the Guinness World Record
was broken by another group of wiffle ball players. Now, the
record is theirs again and they broke it by eight hours.
