  Longest Wish List to Santa: Macy's breaks Guinness World Records (VIDEO)

NEW YORK, NY, USA -- Through the new online letter collection component of Macy's Believe campaign, customers were able to create and send a digital letter to Santa to benefit Make-A-Wish while having the opportunity to participate in world record official attempt for the longest wish list to Santa; through the overwhelming support of customers who truly wished big this year, Macy's set a new wold record with 121,138 wishes, beating the previous Guinness World Records' record that was set in 2012 at 75,954 wishes, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the Most letters to Santa collected in a Christmas season was set by Canada Post; during Christmas 2006 Santa received 1.06 million letters and 44,166 emails (each one responded to with the help of Santa's very special Canada Post elves). More than 11,000 Canada Post volunteers helped respond to these letters in 11 languages, including Braille. Since Canada Post employees began helping Santa answer his holiday mail more than 30 years ago, Santa, with Canada Post's assistance, has enjoyed receiving and replying to more than 15 million letters.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of Santa Claus' - it was achieved by 13,000 participants in the Guildhall Square in Derry City, Northern Ireland, UK, on 9 December 2007.

 Now Macy's official carrier of holiday happiness, Gadget the Elf, will embark on a magical adventure from New York City to Santa's doorstep to deliver a 1.88-mile-long scroll filled with wishes, just in time for Christmas Eve.

    With the longest wish list to Santa now complete, Macy's has entrusted the amazing journey of delivering these wishes to one of Santa's special elves, Gadget.

  By way of train, plane, sled and even a reindeer, Gadget will face a whirlwind expedition in order to deliver children's wishes to Santa before Christmas Eve.
