  Largest human shamrock: Dublin schoolboys broke Guinness world record

DUBLIN, Ireland -- More than 800 students from Blackrock College and Willow Park schools in Dublin arranged themselves in the shape of a giant shamrock, setting the new world record for the Largest human shamrock, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

 The Guinness world record for the largest human smiley was achieved by 3,737 participants organised by ITM University (India) at their annual techno-cultural festival KRONOS 2012 in Gwalior, India.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest human cross; it was achieved by 13,266 participants at an event organised by the University of Santo Tomas (Philippines) in Manila, Philippines.

  More than 800 students from Blackrock College and Willow Park schools in Dublin arranged themselves in the shape of a giant shamrock, a position they held for five minutes to set the new world record for the largest human shamrock.

  The world's largest human shamrock was all in aid of charity and was organised as part of the school's 25th anniversary celebrations of their annual St Patrick's Day Badges campaign.

  "We were determined to mark the 25th year of the badges campaign in a very special way," said Blackrock College principal Alan MacGinty.
