  Largest rag doll: Kildare theatre breaks Guinness world record

DUBLIN, Ireland -- Raggie Maggie, a 7.7 metres heigh rag doll, made her debut at the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin along with 140 members of the Kildare street theatre company, Artastic, setting the new world record for the Largest rag doll, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest rag doll measured 4.62 m (15 ft 2 in) tall and was made by volunteers to support the UNICEF vaccination campaign in Genova, Italy.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest display of dolls; it consists of 69,671 dolls and was achieved by M/S. Parle Products Private Limited (India) at the event "Parle Golu Galata 2011" in Chennai, India.

  It took six weeks to make the giant rag doll, which is 7.7 metres in height, explained Artastic director, Vijaya Bateson.

  The current Guinness world record is set at 4.6 metres tall.

  However, the doll proved too big to stand so she had to sit on a chair for the parade, The Leinster Leader reported.
