  Largest envelope: Garima Angel breaks Guinness world record

AGRA, India -- Garima Angel, from Uttar Pradesh, India, student of M.Sc. final year at Agra College in Agra, has created a giant envelope measuring 14.51 metres long, 9.86 metres wide; it also weighs around 50 kg, setting the new world record for the Largest envelope, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest envelope is 11.02 m (36 ft 1 in) in length and 7.61 m (24 ft 11 in) in width and was created by Aligarh Muslim University (India) in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest postcard; it measures 48.75 m² (524.74 ft²) and was achieved by the Deutsche Post and Toyota Car in Berlin, Germany.

  Garima Angel, a student of M.Sc. final year in Agra College said: "I have set a new world record. My envelope is 14.51-metre long, 9.86-metre wide and weighs around 50 kg. It's made of card sheets joined by glue, and is yellow in colour."

  It took her more than a month to finish the job. "I finished it on my birthday a few days ago," she said.

  The objective is to highlight the grim problem of environmental pollution and how a dirty river was posing a threat to the Taj Mahal, Garima said.

  Written messages of Taj Mahal lovers would be placed inside before the envelope is dispatched, said Garima. She is working out the logistics for sending it to Delhi through a courier.

  The envelope would be on display in the city for a few days, she said, adding that it would later be sent to President Pranab Mukherjee or Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
