The Guinness world record for the most steps climbed by bicycle is 2008 and was achieved by Zhang Jincheng (China), Xavi Casas (Andorra) and Javier Zapata (Colombia) climbing all 88 floors of the Jin Mao Tower in Shanghai, China.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the greatest vertical height ascended by climbing stairs: 18,585 m (60,974 ft 4 in), set by Kurt Hess (Switzerland) who climbed the 45 m Esterli Tower in Lenzburg, Switzerland, and descended by foot 413 times .

He started the climb at 11am and when he reached the 23rd floor, took the elevator back down to the ground floor and started the climb again, to reach the 68th floor where he broke the previous Guinness world record of 2008 steps.

More than 50 people from the audience went to the 68th floor to watch him climb the stairs through a live feed.

Accompanying Herba on the climb was a team of eight people, including his brother.
"I was just walking with a backpack and look at all this sweat," Konrad Herba said. "Imagine he [Krystian] was jumping up in a bicycle which was 7kg and he cannot touch the ground and walls. It is a tough workout lasting a long time," he added.

After completing the challenge, Krystian Herba said:   "What I just accomplished was a defining triumph in my career and I cannot express how happy I am to be able to get the new world record at Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, the tallest hotel in the world. This is indeed a dream come true for me!"

Vuaillat Bernard, a marathon world record holder in Rotherdam and in Berlin, says that he appreciates very much Krystian's decision to break the world record. "I am myself a record holder in many competitions and I really glad to be able to witness this quest. I can feel how he feels now."

Daniel Matthew, general manager of Rose Rayhaan by Rotana, Dubai added: "It is our pleasure to be the venue of such an important event in the history of stunt and trial cycling.

"There is nothing more suitable than holding this event than now, as Rose Rayhaan by Rotana Dubai celebrates its 2nd anniversary. I am definite this triumph will further strengthen the hotel's position as a hospitality icon not only in Dubai, but also in the international market."
