 Longest Career as a Sports Broadcaster: Bob Wolff sets world record (Video)

Woodbury, NY, USA--Veteran sportscaster Bob Wolff, 91, has been sportscasting for 73 years , setting the world record for the Longest career as a Sports Broadcaster , according to World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the Longest career as a news broadcaster was set by Hal Fishman (USA) who anchored television news without interruption from 20 June 1960 until his last broadcast on 30 July 2007, a total of 47 years 40 days.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the youngest sports commentator, set by Zach Spedden (USA) (b. 8 July 1992), who called an entire nine inning baseball game aged 10 years 48 days.

  "This has been a wonderful journey and I'm still enjoying every moment," said Wolff.

  "I've been privileged to work with some of the best professionals in the business and for that I am truly grateful. I feel enormously lucky that I have been a professional sports broadcaster in nine decades, beginning on CBS in 1939, providing play-by-play of some of the most memorable games in sports history. And I look forward to continuing to cover sports for News 12 Long Island."

  News 12 Long Island sportscaster Bob Wolff has been honored many times, being inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriter Association's Hall of Fame, the broadcasting wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and the National Basketball Hall of Fame.

  Wolff has been covering and calling sports for 73 years, a span during which he was a participant in and voice of some of New York sports' biggest events, including the only perfect game pitched in the World Series.

  Wolff also has the distinction of being the only person to handle play-by-play championships in all four major sports.

  Wolff recently signed a two-year extension with News 12, where he has worked since that network's inception as the nation's first around-the-clock local news network.

  A New York native, Wolff resides in Rockland County, NY, with his wife Jane. They have two sons and a daughter. The "Wolffpack" now includes nine grandchildren.
