 Largest twister board: SDSU breaks world record

San Diego, CA, USA -- San Diego State University (SDSU) made history at the Aztec Recreation Center by setting the world record for the largest playable Twister board, with a 24,480 square-foot Twister board , during the Aztec Nights, a series of free events to welcome students to a new year and new semester, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The previous Guinness world record for the largest twister board measured 52.15 m x 42.70 m (171 ft 1 in x 140 ft 1 in) and was achieved by participants of the Kick-In 2011 at the University of Twente (the Netherlands) in Enschede, the Netherlands.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people singing along to a karaoke video game is 10,490, achieved by the crowd at Los Premios 40 Principales, Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, in Madrid, Spain.

  Programs coordinator at the ARC, Brett Kehler said occasions such as Break a World Record Night are fun activities for students, which also "curtail drug and alcohol use" during the first few weeks of school.

  The world record was a collaborative ef- fort between Associated Students, the ARC and SDSU Student Affairs to provide food, fun and drinks for new and returning SDSU students.

  When asked what prompted the idea for this event, A.S. President Rob O'Keefe said events during Welcome Week are hosted so students get a chance to meet new people, have fun and build camaraderie, The Daily Aztec reported.
