Youngest preacher: Kanon Tipton set world record (HD Video)

GRENADA, MS, USA -- Kanon Tipton, 4, preaches at The Pentecostals of Grenada in Mississippi; he is a famous preacher,' whose eloquence and energy has inspired church congregations and wowed millions of followers online'; he is the world's Youngest preacher, according to World Record Academy.

The Guinness world record for the youngest mayor was set by High School student, Michael Sessions (USA, 22 September 1987), who was elected on 8 November 2005 and sworn in as Mayor of Hillsdale, Michigan, USA at the age of 18 years, 61 days.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the youngest university professor set by Alia Sabur (USA, b. 22 February 1989), who was appointed as a full-time faculty Professor of the Department of Advanced Technology Fusion at Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea .

  Following in the footsteps of both his pentecostal preaching father and grandfather, the confident young Kanon is warmly recieved as he paces back-and-forth, shouting and gesticulating as he goes.

  Kanon was just 21 months old when he ambled onstage as his grandfather was finishing up a sermon. Kanon grabbed the microphone and began talking in baby gibberish, imitating a preacher's mannerisms and cadence.

  His proud parents insist they do not force him to perform, rather they simply allow him to take to the stage when he feels like it.

  "I think everybody has their own opinion,'' said his dad. "The Bible does say, 'Train up a child the way it should go, and when they get old they will not depart from it.' All that we have done is involved him in church and he himself has taken upon this passion, and so we're not pushing him. (We) don't have an agenda. We don't travel with him.''

  The video of the then 21-month-old baby first taking the microphone at his family's church has been watched millions of times online since being posted by his parents three years ago.

  When asked in a television interview if he thought the young preacher is inspired by mimicry or by a higher power, Kanon's father, Pastor Damon Tipton, said, "I think it's a little of both ... I do feel like the hand of God is on him in a special way."

  The National Geographic Channel aired "Pint-Sized Preachers," a documentary looking inside the controversial world of child evangelists and the families who watch over them.

  Clarke and director Tom Dumican, both British, said they were compelled to work on the documentary because child preachers and American-style fervor over religion do not exist in the United Kingdom.
