Youngest male radio presenter-world record set by Jack Hill

Weston-super-Mare, UK -- Eight-year-old Jack Hill has been given his own show at Star Radio 107.7 and is proving a hit-and sets the world record for the Youngest male radio presenter .

Photo: DJ Jack Hill from Weston-super-Mare is in high spirits after producing his first radio show at the age of eight years. Jack, known as 'Jack on the Box' is the DJ who stands on a box to reach the controls of his deck because he is so small.   ( enlarge photo )

Proud dad Bob Hill , 43, who is also a DJ, said: "Hopefully this will help make him successful. It's all he wants to do. He comes home from school and goes straight on his decks.

"Music is his life and he will be a DJ when he grows up there's no doubt about it. His tastes are quite grown-up. He likes dance and R'n'B as well as some older stuff like Queen and Billy Ocean."

Dad Bob says he is really proud of his son's achievement. He said: "The show went really well and we have had some good comments from people. "He takes it all in his stride and doesn't show much emotion but we know he enjoyed it. "He comes across quite shy but when he in on the decks he is a completely different person and is so confident."

Mum Faye is also said to be over the moon with her son's success. And twin brother Harry , who previously showed no interest in DJ-ing, has even started to try his hand at spinning the decks after witnessing his brother prepare for his first radio slot.

The radio offer came about after Jack played a short DJ set during a summer festival in Weston-super-Mare. Star Radio DJ Darren Daley asked the crowd whether they'd like to hear Jack on the radio.
The cheers said it all and just weeks later the ball was set in motion to give the pint-sized DJ his own one-hour show.

Jack's first show was on 26th october 2008 at 3pm "and proved so popular they have given Jack his own show every month." says Dad Bob.

Jack's show airs between 3pm and 4pm on the last Sunday of every month, at 3.oopm GMT and can be listened to on air in North Somerset or via North Somerset Star radio 107.7 website.

His teacher Mr Clegg , known as DJ Kickback - from Baseline Records in Weston- says he thinks Jack has a great career ahead of him. He said: "Jack was a natural and took to it like a duck takes to water. I have students more than twice his age who are not as good."

Jack is now looking forward to a trip to Italy next month where he will meet with another current Guinness World Record holder, Stefano Venerri. He holds the record for the longest radio show at 135 hours non-stop.
The aim of the trip is to plan a new joint world record attempt in April.
