The Guinness world record for the most people scuba diving simultaneoulsy is 2,486 and was achieved in Malalayang beach, Manado (Indonesia) .

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Fastest circumnavigation by a crew , set by a crew of 13 captained by Loïck Peyron (France), who sailed around the world in 45 days, 13 hours, 42 minutes, 53 seconds in the yacht Banque Populaire 5 .

Bill and Laurel Cooper started cruising in 1976 when Bill, a former Lieutenant Commander in the Royal Navy, gave up his 'high-flying' city job and they went sailing.

They sold their home in Chatham, Kent, and set off from Lowestoft, Suffolk, in June 1976 on a 50ft vessel Fare Well.

They have sailed more than 100,000 nautical miles and experienced every kind of weather. They have sailed on every ocean and even done more than 20,000 nautical miles in rivers, clocking up 45 different countries along the way.

They have moored their third boat, Faraway, on the River Medway after clocking 100,000 nautical miles.

Bill told the Mirror News: 'We've had a wonderful time, but I'm afraid I have been overtaken by what you could call ill-health. When I got to about 78, we built a boat we could manage for when old age really strikes – we call it the geriatric boat.'

The couple decided to drop anchor for the final time at Rochester because their health was starting to fail.

The countries they have visited include: Gibraltar, Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Crete, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Sicily, Sardinia, Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Canary Islands, Caribbean islands, Rhode Island, the US coast, Portugal, Cadiz, Morocco, Greek islands, Monaco, Azores, Lowestoft, Corsica, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Yugoslavia, Tunisia and Cambrai.

Mrs Cooper said: "We're still fairly healthy, except for his eyesight. "People think it takes a lot of money. It doesn't, it's a very cheap way of life really."
