Longest distance covered on a jetski in 24 hours: Jeremy Burfoot sets world record (Video)

The previous Guinness world record for thefarthest distance covered on a jetski in 24 hoursis 1,641.43 km (1,019.94 miles) and was achieved by Ivan Otulic (Croatia) on a SeaDoo GTX IS jetski starting and finishing at Njivice on Krk island, Croatia.
Guinness World Records also recognized Thefastest 1000 km on an aquabike (jetski)record: 10 hours 9 minutes, set by Juan Felix Bravo Aguilar (Spain), at the San Juan marsh, San Martin de Valdeiglesias, Spain.
Another related Guinness World Records listing is for the longest ever journey on an aquabike (PWC): 17,266.69 km (10,729 miles), by Adriaan Marais and Marinus du Plessis (both South Africa). 'At the end I was tired and elated,' said Burfoot, age 51. 'There's not too much physical damage as I have been training for this for years and wore all the right gear courtesy of Makz Gear, the Sea-Doo dealer which provided outstanding support to our team, The Ultimate Ride Charitable Trust.
'The mental concentration was the hardest ? I am still doing laps in my dreams, so I hope that stops shortly!'
Burfoot credits his physical training with enabling him to break his target distance of 2200km.
"I train hard with weights, core strength exercises, cycling and lots of hours on the skis [short for jetskis, another term for PWCs]," he says.
Burfoot is a long-time and passionate campaigner for healthy living and cancer awareness and again used his latest adventure, the successful record attempt, to promote these causes.
Burfoot dedicated the 24-hour distance ride to good friend Maree Brierly who has just been diagnosed with cancer. 'I found out about Maree only the day before the ride. It just makes me more determined to continue fighting this disease.'
Sea-Doo personal watercraft are made by Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), based in Canada, , and represented locally by BRP New Zealand, a division of BRP Australia Pty Ltd.
BRP New Zealand manager Richard Shaw congratulates Burfoot on another successful adventure with Sea-Doo.
