  Longest desert convoy: Xplore UAE breaks Guinness world record

DUBAI, UAE -- The fifth Xplore UAE, an annual off-road event organised by Arabian Automobiles, in association with ENOC Lubricants, a subsidiary of Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), gathered more than 600 off-road enthusiasts and 153 SUVs which covered a distance of 30 km, through fresh desert routes, which opened up spectacular vistas to Dubai desert to the participants while setting the world record for the longest desert convoy of off-road vehicles, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest parade of off-road motorcycles consisted of 2,132 motorcycles and was achieved at the Bananalama event held in Corupá, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Most countries visited in a continuous journey by car, set by Jim Rogers and Paige Parker (both USA), who visited 111 countries and three territories by car between 1 January 1999 and 5 January 2002. They covered more than 245,000 km (152,000 miles) across six continents in their custom-built Mercedes off-road vehicle and trailer.

 Starting from Qalaat Al Remaal on Dubai-Al Ain Road, the breathtaking tour set across an all-new route included a day out in the desert, where beginners and seasoned off-road enthusiasts tackled the dunes.

  The fun-filled day journey culminated with the launch of new Nissan Pathfinder, followed by an evening get-together with dinner and live entertainment at Al Sahra Desert Resort.

  The event, which attracted the largest number of participants in its history, also raised Dhs50,000 for Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre.

  "Xplore UAE is a great way for participants to experience the all-new desert and wadi routes in the UAE and at the same time support a good cause. Our support to the event underlines our commitment to serve the community through initiatives that make a meaningful difference.

  "The event witnessed the strong participation of off-road enthusiasts, with proceeds donated to Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre," said Saeed Khoory, ENOC's Chief Executive Officer.
