  Longest bumper car marathon: Sylvia Wayfer sets world record (Video)

 AUGUSTA, GA, USA -- Sylvia Wayfer spent 26 hours driving a bumper car at the Georgia-Carolina State Fair to raise awareness for homeless children - setting the new world record for the LOngest bumper car marathon, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

  The previous world record for the Longest bumper car marathon was set by Laura Byng, 28, of Cobham Road, Westcliff, UK, who finished her 25-hour dodgem driving marathon at the town's Adventure Island amusement park, UK.

  The Guinness world record for the longest bumper car marathon is 24 hours and was achieved by Sebastian Bösch (Austria) during the event Vienna Recordia in Vienna, Austria.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the farthest distance pushing a car in 24 hours: 42.28 km (26.27 miles) by Adrian Kane (UK) at St. John the Baptist School in Woking, UK .



  "I don't think a lot of people are aware of that," she said for The Augusta Chronicle.
   She and her husband, Herschel Clark, started the foundation in 2008 and work to raise money for homeless shelters around Atlanta.

  In addition to her work with the foundation, Wayfer spends a few hours each week volunteering at the Atlanta Children's Shelter that provides education, emotional support and social services.

 "It's time when you can just give to kids that you know are less privileged," she said.
