The Guinness world record for the Fastest 0-60 mph (96.56 km/h) acceleration by an electric kart is 3.4 seconds. The kart was built by Linde Material Handling and driven by Andreas Wolf (Germany) at the Motorsport Arena, in Oschersleben, Germany.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the fastest car powered by dry cell batteries: the Oxyride Racer, which achieved an average speed of 105.95 km/h (65.83 mph).It was set by the Oxyride Speed Challenge Team consisting of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. and Osaka Sangyo University, both Japan.

  he convoy of 225 cars was driven around the Silverstone Circuit to break the Guinness World Record for the 'largest parade of electric vehicles', beating the previous Guinness world record of 218 held by Chrysler in the US.

  Nissan LEAF owners travelled from around the UK, from as far afield as Aberdeen and Belfast, to meet up at the world-famous circuit on Saturday 24th November.

  The world record attempt was organised by Nissan to bring together owners of the world's best selling electric vehicle to share their ownership experiences and to gather information about how they us
e their cars.

  Joined by famous faces including actor and presenter Robert Llewellyn and 'Bang goes the Theory' presenter Dallas Campbell, the cars paraded around the circuit for just over two miles under the watchful eye of the Guinness World Records adjudicators.

  Paul O'Neill, Nissan's product manager for LEAF commented: "It was great to see so many LEAFs on the track at the same time. We are delighted to have broken the Guinness world record and want to thank all the owners who helped us achieve this, we couldn't have done it without them."

  The Nissan LEAF entered the record books earlier this year by becoming the fastest car over a mile in reverse, set at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in June by stunt driver Terry Grant.
