"It's in the DNA of our company, about every
10 years, to take more or less a fresh sheet of paper and
create the greatest cruise ship in the world," says Adam Goldstein,
CEO of Royal Caribbean International.
The Largest
cruise ship
The liner was constructed by STX Finland
part of a larger South Korean shipbuilder. Oasis of the
Seas is now owned by US company Royal Caribbean.
Oasis is so vast that it has been designated
with seven separate themed areas to give passengers the choice
of experiences.
There's the open-air Central Park - a cruise
ship first - Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, Pool and Sports
Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center, Entertainment
Place and Youth Zone.
Each of the seven zones will have its own
godmother at the naming ceremony on Fort Lauderdale on November
30.
He added that the company was targetting
international clients, not just American or European cruisers,
with Oasis of the Seas, which will be sailing mainly in the
sunny Caribbean.
It's also catering to younger, more active
passengers with children, and therefore offering a wider selection
of activities, including 21 swimming pools, an aqua park,
a carousel and a science lab.
