  Heaviest object pulled by any production vehicle: Nissan Patrol breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)


SHARJAH, UAE--During an event at Sharjah International Airport, UAE, an unmodified production Nissan Patrol pulled a cargo plane (Ilyushin Il-76 plane) weighing 170.9 tons, inclusive of fuel and cargo, for over 50 metres, smashing the previous Guinness World Records' record by 15 tons and
setting the new world record for the 'Heaviest object pulled by any production vehicle', according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ . Heaviest object pulled by any production vehicle: Nissan Patrol breaks Guinness world record

The Guinness World Records' record for the heaviest aircraft pulled over 100 m (328 ft 1 in) by a team weighs 218.56 tonnes (481,842 lb) and was achieved by the members of disciplinary and security forces of the Hong Kong International Airport at Hong Kong International Airport in Hong Kong , China. The aircraft pulled was a Boeing 747-400.100 participants took part in the pulling, which lasted 2 min and 38 sec.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest parade of Nissan cars; it consisted of 225 vehicles in an event organised by Skylineowners.com (UK) at the Silverstone Race Circuit, Towcester, Northamptonshire, UK, on 11 April 2010.

  The 170 tonnes included weight of the Ilyushin Il-76 plane, fuel and cargo. It smashed the previous Guinness world record by 15 tonnes.

  The previous Guinness world record was held by Volkswagen's Touareg which set the record five years ago by towing a Boeing 747 aircraft in Germany.

  The Ilyushin Il-76 plane is known as one of the world's toughest cargo planes, designed to deliver cargo and take-off and land in some of the world's most extreme environments.

   A standard production Nissan Patrol was used for the attempt. The only modification done was on a towing hitch compatible with the aircraft to connect the car with aircraft's pushback ring.

  The record attempt was made in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ghanem Alhajiri, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport and supported by Sharjah International Airport and held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Thani, Chairman of Civil Aviation of Sharjah.
