Most patents by a university - Far East University
Taiwan sets world record
TAINAN, Taiwan -- Far
East University
(FEU) has 1078 patent certificates,
with one of the students holding 46 patents , setting the world record for the Most
patents by a university
.
Large parts of the creative efforts come from
their students, said president of the university Wang Yuan-jen,
adding that "innovative thinking" is a required course in
the university.

Wang believed that vocational universities
are more competitive than normal universities in terms of
patent rights and certificates that qualified professional
techniques.
More than 300 students from the university
formed the shape of "1078" on campus with the patent certificates
in hands yesterday to celebrate the setting of the world record
for the Most
patents by a university
.
Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931) holds the
world record for the most patents awarded to an individual
inventor
. Doing most of his work in his laboratories in
Newark, Menlo Park and West Orange, Edison earned a total
of 1,093 patents.
