The Guinness world record for the Largest telephone conference call was set by ACT Teleconferencing (USA) and Herbalife International (USA) conducted a telephone conference call led by Michael O. Johnson (USA), CEO of Herbalife International . The greatest number of people simultaneously connected for at least ten seconds was 10,424.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the First pole-to-pole telephone call, set on April 28 1999, at 10:30 am (GMT); it was accomplished by Mike Comberiate and Andre Fortin (both NASA, USA). It became a conference call, coordinated from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, and lasted 45 minutes.

The numbers for the TeleForum conference call are truly staggering:
 - 2,034,998 calls were completed to potential participants.
  - 626,653 people answered the call live.
  - 372,001 participants stayed on the call for at least 90 seconds.
   - 16,972 participants were on the call during the highest 10-second period, shattering the old Guinness World Record of 10,424 set in 2004.

"We are excited about this recognition, which continues to validate that our platform is robust enough to accommodate any clients' needs," said Michael Davis, Executive Vice President of Broadnet.

The record-shattering TeleForum allowed participants to listen to a live discussion from EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson, ask questions directly to her during the event, and participate in numerous poll questions ranging from the most important environmental issues facing our nation to the effect of MPG standards on purchasing decisions.

"We partnered with Broadnet for this important event due to their excellent customer service and state of the art platform, allowing us to meet all of our client's communication goals," commented David Costenbader, President of The Contact Group.

To verify the new world record, Broadnet videotaped the entire TeleForum event and received verification and confirmation from two industry analysts and two official timekeepers who were able to confirm the record.

"The historic turnout on our TeleForum shows that the American people support the EPA's work to protect the air we breathe.   The public clearly trusts scientists at the EPA over corporate polluters and their allies in Congress," said Sara Chieffo, Legislative Director at the League of Conservation Voters.
