  First 3D smartphone: LG Optimus 3D sets world record
 BARCELONA, Spain -- During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona LG Electronics will unveil the glasses-free LG Optimus 3Dsmartphone which include a dual-lens camera for 3D recording and a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing , setting the world record for the First 3D smatphone .

  A range of 3D smartphones is expected to be unveiled this year, but what sets the LG Optimus 3D apart right now is the dual-lens camera with 3D video recording.

  The Guinness world record for the Fastest typing on a smartphone was set by Cheong Kit Au (Australia), who typed a prescribed 264-character text on a QWERTY mobile phone in 1 min 17.03 sec during the LG Worldcup World Championship at Gotham Hall in New York, New York, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the Lightest hand-held mobile phone: The Modu, which weighs 40.1 g (1.41 oz). It is manufactured by modu ltd. (Israel) .

Sharp's recently unveiled 3D smartphone only has a single-lens camera that can create 3D images via built-in image processing.

  The LG Optimus 3D addresses the lack of 3D content issue -- one of the biggest problems facing the 3D market -- with a complete platform for a one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device.

   LG?s most advanced smartphone to date will feature a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing and diverse connectivity options such as HDMI and DLNA for 3D content sharing anytime, anywhere. 

   Analysts said 3D televisions haven't done as well as manufacturers had hoped, partly because of the cost of special viewing glasses. Even without the need for glasses, analysts are cautious about the chances for success for a 3D smartphone.

Pricing, availability, and carriers for the LG Optimus 3D are not available at this time.

  It's the second LG smartphone that has caused a few ripples in 2011, with the LG Optimus 2X having been positively received at January's CES. Much of this was due to the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor inside.

   Further details will be announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 14 ? 17, along with a live demo.

   3D is expected to be one of the smartphone trends at this year's Mobile World Congress.

   Other expected trends include dual-core processors, NFC (Near-Field Communications) and faster mobile Internet connections. Screens are also growing larger and the phones thinner.
