  Most Pencils in Hair: Derek Harmes breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

MADISON, WI, USA -- Wisconsin resident Derek Harmes collected 18 boxes of unsharpened No. 2 pencils and got to work decorating his giant mane; he got 288 pencils into his hair in total, setting the new world record for Most Pencils in Hair, according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records' record for the largest collection of pencils belongs to Emilio Arenas (Uruguay) and consists of 16,260 black pencils from 72 countries as of 15 October 2013.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest pencil mosaic; it measures 750 m² (8,072.9 ft²) and was achieved by Civil Defense General Command (UAE), at Emirates Palace, in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on 9 December 2014. The mosaic measured 50 m in length and 15 m in width.
