Longest jump in a Harley-Davidson - world record set by Seth Enslow

SYDNEY, Australia-- American motorcycle daredevil Seth Enslow flew to a distance of 183.7ft (56 metres) on his Harley-Davidson XR1200 -setting the new world record for the Longest jump in a Harley-Davidson .

“This is awesome! I’m stoked!” Enslow said after entering the record books.

The tattooed biker and his team spent a year preparing for the 95mph jump. "We've worked hard at creating history and we're all glad he landed it safely," Harley-Davidson spokesman Adrian O'Donoughue said.

Sky News reports that Seth Enslow actually broke the record twice. The first time he flew 175 feet, but cameras weren't ready to record it, so he went again, this time adding an extra 8 feet.

The previous world record for the Longest jump in a Harley-Davidson was a 47.85m jump in Las Vegas in 1999.

The heavily tattooed stuntman, a star of the Crusty Demons motorbike troupe, held his crotch and grimaced after landing “awkwardly” on the second jump, but did not suffer any serious injury, a spokeswoman said. “I think it’s just the way he landed but it’s nothing too drastic, as far as I’m aware,” she said.

Aussie Harley expert Gavin Walker, who worked with Seth to set up the jump, said the bike was a standard XR1200 model, but had strengthened suspension and motocross tires.
He added: "This was hard but I'm thrilled it has been a success. A lot could have gone wrong but thankfully it didn't."

Seth Enslow was injured when he failed to break the world record in 1999 on a custom-built Honda bike.
Enslow's jump is not a Guinness World Record as Guinness World Records has no category for specific motorcycles, but it still stands as a world record and it is recognized by the World Record Academy.

Evel Knievel , real name Roger Knievel, set the original Harley jump record in October 1975, when he jumped 115ft (35 metres) over 14 Greyhound buses at the Kings Island theme park in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The record stood for 24 years until it was broken by Bubba Blackwell in Las Vegas in 1999 when he jumped 157ft (48 metres) over 15 Greyhound buses.
