The previous Guinness world record for the highest shallow dive was also achieved by Darren Taylor (USA) who dived into the regulated depth of 30 cm (11.8 in) of water from a height of 11.05 m (36 ft 3 in) in Milan, Italy.

Guinness World Records also recognizedthe world record for the Most people scuba diving simultaneoulsy: 2,486, achieved in Malalayang beach, Manado (Indonesia).

For some reason, the Professor decided to set the record in the icy outdoors of Trondheim, Norway; perhaps the freezing cold helps numb the pain of going gut-first into a foot of water from three stories up.

Mr Taylor, who is from Colorado in the US, has 25 years' professional high-diving experience and works as a stunt diver.

He's actually made 13 Guinness World Records -certified dives in his 25 years of high-diving experience.

"The real big trick with this dive is to land flat, try to get as much water out of this pool as I can," he explained. "I want to dissipate as much water as I can for a cushion effect."

To add to how amazing (or creazy...) the feat is, Guinness World Record rules do not allow for the inflatable pool to actually be inflated.

The world record breaking event was arranged by IAESTEs Næringslivsdager Norway.
