"It was unbelievable when I first really found out about it," says Burrill. "I just enjoy it. I take care of my health, I think positive and I always had exercise," says Burrill.

The previous Guinness world record for the oldest female marathon runner was set by Jenny Wood-Allen, 90, who finished the London Marathon in 2002 in about 11 hours.

Burrill is from Prospect, Oregon, but she spends part of each year in Honolulu in a condominium she owns in Waikiki.

Burrill began entering marathons in 2004 when she was 86-years old.

She put in 30 to 50 miles each week training with her running partner, 66-year-old George McCarthy.

"We knew Glady was an amazing athlete and she made a great attempt a couple years ago, we're just so excited that our first world record goes to a such a great person as Glady Burrill," says Dr. Jim Barahal, Honolulu Marathon President.

Guinness World Records also recognized the record for the longest parasailing marathon: 24 hr 10 min, set by Berne Persson (Sweden) on Lake Graningesjön, Sweden.

Guiness World Records also lists the longest snowboarding marathon, which is 180 hr 34 min and was set by Bernhard Mair (Austria) at Bad Kleinkirchheim, Austria.
