Guinness World Records officials saw the delighted teenager make history, beating a previous Guinness world record of 32, as she flipped from one 15-yard line on the field to the other.

The Guinness world record for the oldest person to perform a backflip is Walter Liesner (Germany, b. 14 January 1913) who was 94 yr 268 days when he performed a backflip into a swimming pool, in Wetzlar, Germany.

Ferguson said a friend suggested she make an attempt for the world record after she managed 20 handsprings in a row at a game last year.

She said she was able to match the world record during a recent practice and she hit 35 Friday night at the St. Mark's School of Texas game against the Oakridge School.

"Really just the fans out there really helped me get through it," she said.

'I'm extremely excited, but also really relieved,' she told Fox News.

'I was really nervous that if I did one more that I was just going to fall, so I was like, "I'm going to stay at 35. I got this."

'The fans out there really helped me get through it,' she added.
'My head isn't too bad, but my back is kind of sore. I'm sure I'm going to feel it tomorrow.'
