 Longest distance run underwater: Mike Studer sets world record

SALEM, OR, USA -- Mike Studer, president of Northwest Rehabilitation Associates Inc., participated from the South Salem clinic as part of the HydroWorx Underwater Marathon to raise money for The Eagle Fund, which helps provide rehabilitation for injured special forces soldiers; he completed an underwater marathon in 3:44:52, setting the world record for the Longest distance run underwater, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest underwater cycle race involved 22 scuba divers competing along the the 60-m (196-ft) long, 3-m ( 10-ft) deep 2e2 Underwater Cycling Challenge in Havelet Bay, Guernsey, Channel Islands, UK.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people playing checkers underwater: 88, at an event organised by Normunds Pakulis (Latvia) in Riga, Latvia.

  Mike Studer, president of Northwest Rehabilitation Associates Inc., completed an underwater marathon in 3:44:52, setting the world record for the longest distance run underwater.

  It is also the first and fastest time for anyone to run an underwater marathon, Studer said.

  According to The Statesman Journal, Studer was also able to raise more than $7,500 for The Eagle Fund.
