  Longest distance bounced on a Space Hopper: Phoebe Asquith breaks Guinness world record

Scarborough, UK -- Phoebe Asquith, 24, of Stepney Road, set off from North Bay on the scorching Bank Holiday and jumped 4.1 miles on a Space Hopper, setting the new world record for the longest distance bounced on a Space Hopper in 24 hours, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the most bounces on a space hopper in one minute is 108 and was achieved by Mark Little (UK) at Butlins, Bognor Regis, UK.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people bouncing tennis balls on tennis rackets; it is 658, achieved by Wilson Racquet Sports (USA) in advance of the US Open at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York, New York, USA.

  The accountant's daughter completed the challenge in four-and-a-half hours, setting a new world record for the longest distance travelled on a Space Hopper in 24 hours by breaking the previous Guinness world record of four miles.

  She said: "It was really hard. It was really hot and really busy but I got a lot of support all the way round which was nice. I got a few funny looks but it made everyone smile."

  Phoebe, who works as a teaching assistant at Scarborough Sixth Form College, took on the bizarre record attempt to raise cash for the Parachute Regiment Charity and Combat Stress charity for her boyfriend, Lewis Merron.

  Lewis returns home in a month – when his older brother Ryan, 27, also a soldier, flies out to take his place on the front line, The Scarborough News reported.
