"When I sped off I got into an aerodynamic shape and just focussed on the yellow line in the middle of the road," he said after setting the new world record.

The Guinness world record for the fastest skateboard speed achieved in a standing position is 129.94 km/h (80.74 mph) and was achieved by Mischo Erban (Canada), at Les Éboulements, Quebec, Canada.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most skateboard ollies in one minute is 42 by Rob Dyrdek (USA) on MTV's The Rob & Big Show in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Born in Czechoslovakia in 1983, Mischo Erban grew up in the shadows of the Silver Star ski resort, but learned to longboard during his first year at the University of B.C., Star Phoenix reported.

Erban hurtled down an 18-degree street in Quebec, Canada, to pick up enough pace and smashed the previous best by 10.5mph, the Sun reported.

The daring 28-year-old Czech selected the Les Eboulements stretch of road, which translates as The Landslide, after seeing lugers whiz down it.

'As I got faster the road started to disappear. There were a few bumps on the road but I just focussed on keeping myself tight.

'It was great fun and I got a real rush from knowing I was travelling at 80mph on a skateboard and watching the side of the road flash past me in my peripheral vision.'

To capture the record-breaking scene in real-time, Erban wore a heads-up display from Recon Instruments that allowed him to monitor his speed, distance, time and navigation.

He said he one day hopes to reach 257km/h on a skateboard — if he can find the right road.
