  Fastest marathon dressed as a book character: David Stone sets world record

LONDON, UK--David Stone, 42, from from Exmouth in Devon, dressed as Count Dracula and completed his run at the 32nd London Marathon in two hours 42 minutes - setting the new world record for the fastest marathon dressed as a book character , according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the fastest marathon dressed a book character (male) was 3 hr 02 min 30 sec by David Ross (UK) dressed as Dennis the Menace at the 2011 Virgin London Marathon in London, UK .

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest marathon dressed as a superhero (female): 3 hr 08 min 55 sec, achieved by Jill Christie (UK) dressed as superwoman at the Virgin London Marathon, London, UK .

  The 42-year-old from Devon, dressed as Count Dracula and completed his run in two hours 42 minutes, smashing the previous record of three hours and two minutes.

  "I've done 48 marathons now so I know what to expect. The warm weather was the toughest part today rather than the costume, although the teeth make it difficult to speak. The crowds keep you going all the way, they were fantastic."

  He is already a world record holder after dressing as Superman last year to break the record for fastest marathon dressed as a superhero.

  Vlad the Impaler was also known as Dracula, which means son of the dragon (dracul) in the Romanian dialect of the time. Vlad's father was a member of the Order of the Dragon.



  There were a host of celebrities who took part in the marathon, including glamour model Nell McAndrew and rower James Cracknell. The winners, meanwhile, were greeted and awarded by Prince Harry.

  "It's the first time I've been on the finish line to watch it. It's fantastic - a great atmosphere. Everyone's very, very happy," he told BBC 5 Live.

   His father, Prince Charles is claiming that he's related to Dracula.
  "The genealogy shows that I am descended from Vlad the Impaler," Charles said.

  The heir to the British throne was making the connection during an interview that will air as part of an upcoming TV show to promote the preservation of forests in Romania's Transylvania region. "So I have a bit of a stake in the country," the prince said.

  Charles, who owns a home in the region, has said Transylvania's pristine landscapes and rural farming traditions make it a national treasure.
