 Most snowmen built in an hour: Japan breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

NAGANO, Japan -- Some 630 people succeeded in setting a new World Record by building 1,585 snowmen in one hour at an event in the city of Iiyama, Nagano Prefecture; the previous Guinness World Records' record for most snowmen built in an hour was 1,279, achieved in the United States in 2011, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the most snowmen built in one hour is 1,585 and was achieved by The Iiyama Snow Festival on 15 February 2015.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as snowmen; it was 333, in an event organised by Hope House Children's Hospices (UK) in Oswestry, Shropshire, UK, on 6 December 2009.

   Some 630 people succeeded in setting a new World Record by building 1,585 snowmen in one hour at an event in the city of Iiyama, Nagano Prefecture.

   The previous Guinness World Records' record for most snowmen built in an hour was 1,279, achieved in the United States in 2011.

   While snow fell, participants made each snowman without using any tools. Snowmen taller than about 90 cm with facial features and ornament arms were counted for the record, the Kyodo news agency reports.

   Each of the participants in the event, which was held in Iiyama, managed to build an average of 2.5 snowmen within the allotted 60 minutes.
