 Most selfies taken in one hour: Malaysia breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia -- Malaysians from all walks of life gathered at the Science & Technology Village in Kuala Lumpur with the hopes of breaking the Guinness World Records' world record for the most self-portrait photographs (selfies) taken in one hour; the official count of total photographs taken is 613, which is 192 more than the previous world record held by Canadian actress, Melinda Shankar in 2014, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

  Photo: People gathered in Kuala Lumpur to break the Guinness World Records' record for the most selfies taken in an hour. To break the current Guinness world record of 421 selfies, a student was appointed to take pictures with at least ten people per minute. Finally, it achieved a grand total of 665 selfies. Some were disqualified by witnesses, leaving 613 selfies to be considered in the record breaking attempt. ( enlarge photo )

 The Guinness World Records' record for the most self-portrait photographs (selfies) taken in one hour is 421 and was achieved by Skittles and Melinda Shankar (Canada) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada .

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the longest self photographs (selfies) relay chain is 279 people; it was achieved by Priceline Pharmacy (Australia), in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.

Selfie is basically taken with mobile phones and uploaded to a social media platform.

   Approximately 700 people registered to take part in this momentous event organised by Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM), an agency under the purview of the Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), The Astro Awani reported.
