  Fastest time to shear a sheep: Ivan Scott breaks Guinness World Records record (VIDEO)

   County Westmeath, Ireland -- Donegal man Ivan Scott beat the Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to shear a sheep, on the opening episode of Big Week on the Farm on RTÉ One; Ivan (33) from Kilmacrennan near Letterkenny, Co Donegal, sheared the sheep in just 37.9 seconds, shaving an impressive 1.41 seconds off the existing record, live on air, according to the World Record Academy .

Ivan Scott (33) sheared a sheep in 37.9 seconds live on RTÉ's Big Week on the Farm, beating the previous Guinness World Records world record of 39.31 seconds which was set in Australia in 2010.

The Guinness World Records world record for the largest display of handmade sheep is 13,652, achieved by the National Wool Museum, City of Greater Geelong and Pyrenees Presents Inc. (all Australia), at the National Wool Museum in Geelong, Australia, on 11 October 2015.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the fastest time to shear a single mature sheep; it is 39.31 seconds by Hilton Barrett (Australia) at the Wellington Show 2010 in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, on 1 May 2010.


     Donegal man Ivan Scott beat the Guinness World Records title for the fastest time to shear a sheep, on the opening episode of Big Week on the Farm on RTÉ One.

   Ivan (33) from Kilmacrennan near Letterkenny, Co Donegal, sheared the sheep in just 37.9 seconds, shaving an impressive 1.41 seconds off the existing record, live on air.

    Scott, from Kilmacrennan near Letterkenny in Co Donegal, has won the All-Ireland Sheep Shearing Champion title eight times. He previously took the record for the number of sheep sheared in eight hours in New Zealand in 2012, shearing 744 lambs.

    To be a valid world record attempt, the sheep must be at least 18-months-old and three kilograms of wool have to be sheared. Ivan sheared 3.92 kilos of wool in the 37.9 seconds.
