The Guinness world record for the Fastest time to make a bed by a team of two (single bed) with one blanket, two sheets, an undersheet, an uncased pillow, one pillowcase, one counterpane and hospital corners is 14.0 seconds, by Sister Sharon Stringer and Nurse Michelle Benkel of the Royal Masonic Hospital, London, UK.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people eating breakfast in bed ; it is 289 and was achieved by Priceline and Women's Health (Australia) in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

To celebrate the officially opening of its 60th hotel in London, Travelodge the capital's biggest hotel chain marked the occasion by hosting an event to set a new World Record - for the 'Fastest Bed Making By An Individual'.

Taking the challenge was Andrea Warner aged 41, who has worked for Travelodge since 2001 at Wellingborough Travelodge in Northamptonshire. Andrea is the Company's fastest bed maker and makes a staggering 10,000 beds a year.

The previous world record was set two years ago by rival hotel chain Premier Inn, however it was at a sluggish pace of 95 seconds.

To fulfil the strict guidelines set by Guinness World Records officials, Andrea undertook the challenge in the hotel's Bar Café area with an audience of 200 people which included Kit Malthouse, the Deputy Mayor of London for Business & Enterprise.

The world record attempt was adjudicated by three official timekeepers from the Amateur Football Alliance with four independent witnesses and stewards.

Andrea dressed the king size Travelodge Dreamer bed in 74 seconds by:
  * Fitting a sheet on the mattress
  * Covering a king size duvet with cover and fastening six poppers and then placing the duvet over the sheet
  * Covering two pillowcases and placing the pillows on the bed
   * Adding a bed runner over the duvet in 74 seconds

Grant Hearn, Travelodge CEO said: "Andrea is one of our top hotel managers and I am so proud of her achievement. I cannot think of any better way of celebrating the opening of our 60th hotel in the capital by Travelodge setting a brand new World Record. Andrea did a remarkable job of dressing our Dreamer bed in 74 seconds."

After setting the new world record for making the fastest king size bed, Andrea shared her top tips for making a bed in record time.
  # Make sure you have everything ready prior to dressing bed
  # Place your bed linen in the order that you will need it
  # Always use a fitted sheet
  # When covering your duvet have the cover inside out and start covering from the top two corners of your duvet.
  # Clear the area around the bed so that you can move around easily

Andrea was born in Wellingborough and has lived in the Northamptonshire area all her life. After leaving school aged 16, Andrea became a factory worker till 2001 when she joined the Travelodge hotel in Wellingborough as a guest room cleaner.

Andrea climbed the career ladder very quickly and was appointed to the position of hotel manager for Wellingborough in 2003.

In her spare time Andrea enjoys spending quality time with Pebbles her Jack Russell dog and hitting the Northamptonshire countryside roads on her Suzuki Bandit 600 motorbike.

Thanks to her reputation as a speedy bed dresser Andrea's friends often ask her to make their beds for them.
Andrea said "I don't mind making my friends' beds for them because it is torture watching them do it, they just take so long."
