  Loudest bark: Australian dog breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

Adelaide, Australia -- Charlie, a six-year-old Golden Retriever from Adelaide, Australia (owner Belinda Freebairn), has broken the Guinness World Record for the loudest bark; Charlie registered his record-breaking bark of 113.1 decibels at a national competition, setting the new world record for the Loudest bark, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The previous Guinness world record for the Loudest bark was set by a German Shepherd from London who won in 2009 at a mere 108 decibels.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the loudest dog bark; it measured 124 dB and was produced by 76 dogs in an event organised by Petmate, in Washington Park, Colorado, US.

  Charlie's owner, Belinda Freebairn, says her dog developed his bellowing bark - equivalent to the sound of a live rock band - at a young age.

  But she doesn't get complaint from neighbors because Charlie only barks on command."He doesn't bark at home at all really, he's really quiet."

  Owner Belinda Freebairn said she was proud of her pooch. He has been showered with love from her three daughters - Kaitlyn, 13, Jessica, 11, and Kayla, 9 - since he was named top dog.
