The previous Guinness world record for the
Longest snake living in captivity was set by Fluffy, a reticulated python (Python reticulatus); she was found to be over 7.3 m (24 ft) long. Fluffy died at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Powell, Ohio, USA, due to an apparent tumor.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Longest snake, stuffed toy: Pupils, staff and parents of Owairoa Primary School, Howick, New Zealand created a stuffed snake measuring 1,281.8 m (4,208 ft 4 in).

The World's Largest Snake living in captivity is part of the horror show at the haunted house. She weighs more than 300 pounds and measures between 24 and 26 feet long.

Her name is Medusa, named after the ugly creature from Greek mythology.

According to NBC Action News, Medusa's trainer Larry Elgar claims that the gigantic python does not intimidate him.

"They've actually cut people out of them, they are man eaters," the Daily Mail quoted him as saying.

"Fear is just a lack of understanding. I have no fear. I understand that she can kill me. I've been wrapped up and put unconscious by a reticulated python that was only 18 feet long.

"I understand the repercussions, but that's no reason to fear. That car you drove in has killed more people than anything else in the world. But you're not scared when you put your keys in it, are you?" he added.

Edgar expects Medusa to live well into her 50s and could grow as heavy as 500 pounds.

Edgar says she's in heat right now, so she only eats once every few months because of her concern for mating.

Other times Medusa will eat once a week and ingest as much as 100 pounds of food.
