  Heaviest newborn lamb: Joan the lamb smash Guinness world record

Rossendale, UK -- A lamb weighing 24lb - four times heavier than normal, was born in
Rossendale, Lancashire, England; her mother Geraldine went through an excruciating three-hour labour that had owners Emma Jackson and Alan Butterworth scrambling for the scales; newborn Joan weighed a whopping 24lbs when she entered the world, setting the new world record for the Heaviest newborn lamb, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ heaviest newborn lamb world record set by Joan the lamb .

 The Guinness world record for the largest sheep's cheese weighed 534.7 kg (1,178.8 lb) and was prepared by Comitato Promotore Fiera Castel Di Lama (Italy) and presented at the 15th edition of the Farm Exhibition of Vallata del Tronto in Castel di Lama, Italy.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the Largest collection of sheep-related items, set by June Francis (Canada) has 692 sheep-related items, as of June 2011, which she has been collecting since 1979.

   The biggest lamb recognised by Guinness World Records was one born in North Wales weighing 17lbs.

  According to The Lancashire Telegraph, "Joan is named after a neighbouring farmer, Joan Law, and Joan Greenwood, a family friend from Whitworth whose funeral Miss Jackson and Mr Butterworth attended the morning before Geraldine went into labour.

  Miss Jackson, 37, has been farming at Honey Hole Farm, off Tunstead Road in Stacksteads, with her partner Alan for two years.

  The farm, which Emma and Alan run with their children, Lorna, 13, Shauna, 12 and Eve, seven, is home to 51 ewes, one ram, 47 lambs, four sows, one boar and 13 piglets.

   Miss Jackson said: "Geraldine's fine, she lost a bit of blood but she's as greedy as ever. Joan has a bit of a bent ear but she's coping and getting stronger.
