 Most people wearing underpants on their heads: 'Underpants' fans set world record

Naperville, IL, USA -- 270 children, teens and adults donning underpants atop their heads posed for a photo outside of Anderson's Bookshop in Naperville, setting the new world record for the most people wearing underpants on their heads at one time, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

The Guinness world record for the largest gathering of people wearing only underwear was achieved by 2,270 participants (all USA) at the Utah Undie Run in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most underpants worn in one hour: 144 - achieved by Lee Phillips (United Kingdom) on the set of The Paul O'Grady Show, London, United Kingdom.

  Kids and their parents gathered outside Anderson's Bookshop for an appearance by "Captain Underpants" author Dav Pilkey, who stopped in Naperville to sign copies of his new book, "Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers," the Daily Herald reported.

  About an hour before Pilkey's appearance, Anderson's Bookshop employees climbed to the roof of the storefront on Jefferson Avenue and snapped photos of about 300 people — the majority of them donning underpants on their heads — crowded into a nearby parking lot.

  Dreamworks Animation is also in the process of creating a 3D movie from the Captain Underpants series.
