 Most people wearing paper crowns: British Camping Club sets world record (PICS)

LONDON, UK -- The Camping and Caravanning Club marked the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in spectacular fashion by gathering 14,621 people wearing paper crowns in over 100 Club and Camping in the Forest Sites - setting the new world record for the Most people wearing paper crowns in 24 hours (multiple venues), according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

  Over 100 Club and Camping in the Forest Sites took part in the audacious record attempt, the scale of which had never been attempted before in the UK.

The Guinness world record for the largest knitted hat measures 6.90 metres (22 ft 7 in) in height and 15.05 metres (49 ft 4 in) in circumference and was created by volunteers from all over Europe.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest hat mosaic consisted of 1,861 caps which was achieved by New Era Cap Company Ltd (Global), at Bread and Butter tradeshow, in Berlin, Germany.

  Celebrity botanist and Club President David Bellamy took part in the World Record Attempt at the Club's hub site at Sandringham and he added: "I'm delighted to have celebrated with the Club by setting a new Guinness World Record! I'm certainly going to keep my crown as a memento – carry on camping everyone!"

  Club Director, General Robert Louden, added: "As a Club, we will continue to promote National Camping and Caravanning Week and encourage holidaymakers to get out camping and to enjoy our great British countryside."
