  Most people dressed up as turkeys: Dallas Turkey Trot sets world record

 DALLAS, TX, USA -- 661 runners dressed as turkeys had to remain "cooped up" for ten minutes just before the start of 44th annual Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot - setting the new world record for the Most people dressed up as turkeys , according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

  The Guinness world record for the most people dressed as superheroes was achieved by 1,580 participants in an event organised by Paramount Studios to promote the Dreamworks movie 'Megamind' starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey in Los Angeles, California, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people dressed as Smurfs was 2,510 and was achieved by Jokers' Masquerade with the help of Swansea University at Swansea Oceana in Swansea, UK.

  Organizers of the 44th Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot helped set a World Record for the largest gathering of humans dressed as turkeys. Officially, 661 people arrived decked out in turkey garb.

  "The sense of humor we have in this town in fabulous," Dallas mayor Mike Rawlings said. "People say we take ourselves too seriously, but we really don't."

  The Capital One Bank Dallas YMCA Turkey Trot is the largest Thanksgiving Day event of its kind in the country.

  "Every year, we always have groups dressing up," said Sarah Byrom with the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas. "Spain has the running of the bulls. Dallas will have the running of the turkeys."

  Starting from humble beginnings 43 years ago at White Rock Lake, it has grown into the undisputed "Way to Begin Thanksgiving Day" for thousands of locals as well as those who travel to share in our great event.
