Most people dressed as Kate Bush: 300 Fans break record despite Guinness' rejection

Brighton, UK -- Over 300 Kate Bush fans gathered in a Brighton park wearing red dresses, long black wigs and bright lipstick, during an event organised by performance group Shambush; fans spend the afternoon practicing the dance moves from her famous video for her 1978 single 'Wuthering Heights' while setting the world record for the Most people dressed as Kate Bush, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the most people dressed as superheroes was achieved by 1,580 participants in an event organised by Paramount Studios to promote the Dreamworks movie 'Megamind' starring Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt and Tina Fey in Los Angeles, California, USA.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as sunflowers; it is 571 and was achieved by British Forces Brunei Garrison (UK) in Seria, Brunei Darussalam.

  Over 300 Kate Bush fans gathered in a Brighton park on Saturday to break the record for the most lookalikes re-enacting the famous video for her 1978 single 'Wuthering Heights'.

  The sight of hundreds of men and women in red dresses, long black wigs and bright lipstick took many visitors to Stanmer Park, Brighton, England by surprise.

  The event, organised by performance group Shambush, saw fans spend the afternoon practicing the dance moves before breaking the record.

  "Mean-spirited Guinness World Records' bosses have refused to recognise last weekend's Kate Bush extravaganza as an official record – because the chosen song was not iconic enough," reported The Argus.

  Emily Jenkins, from the Shambush performance group which organised the event, said: "As far as we're aware there isn't an existing world record – so if we had five people doing it it would have been a record. However, [Guinness World Records] officials told us that the song and dance is not iconic enough."

  Fringe director Julian Caddy described the [Guinness World Records] decision as "outrageous", adding: "Why Guinness World Records will not recognise 300 people dressed as Kate Bush dancing in a field I will never know."

On the contrary, to have your record verified & recognized by the World Record Academy you don't have to be a celebrity, or to do what a 'top' star have done or anything like that.
