The Guinness world record for the most people caroling is 502, achieved by the Unitarian Church in Westport, Connecticut, USA.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest group of carol singers, which consisted of 15,111 participants and was achieved by the Hong Myung-bo Foundation (South Korea) during the Hong Myung-bo Charity Soccer Game in Seoul, South Korea.

The One Voice carolers also raised money for a foundation born in the ashes of a Christmastime tragedy that claimed the lives of three young girls last year -- the LilySarahGrace Fund , established in memory of Lily, Sarah and Grace Badger, who died along with their grandparents in a fire that swept through their Stamford home early last Christmas Day.

The carol-sing marked the second time in the last nine months that people in Westport have set a World Record, the Westport News reported.

Last April, the Staples High School Class of 2014 beat by three the previous Guinness World Record for number of sets of twins in one class. The class, now juniors there, comprises 380 students including 16 sets of twins.

More than 600 singers walked the half-mile route from Compo Beach to 14 pre-designated homes on Soundview, Fairfield, Norwalk, Danbury and Bradley streets, although only 502 were included in the official count, according to organizers, since only those registered in advance were counted.

Carolers were required to take only five minutes between 14 houses, and were pleasantly hurried along by master of ceremonies Jim Keenan, who ushered them from house to house with the help of a bull horn.

They sang two songs at each front door often repeating songs from their limited repertoire, which included "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," "Jingle Bells," "Let it Snow" and "Deck the Halls."
