  Most people blowing train whistles simultaneously: Chatham breaks Guinness World Records' record (VIDEO)

CHATHAM, NJ, USA -- During the Chatham Train Station Centennial Celebration, held in conjunction with the annual Fishawack Festival, the Chatham Historical Society created awareness for the historic day by celebrating with a fun and memorable community event; about 1,127 residents of Chatham, area friends, family, and train enthusiasts from all over came together to break the previous Guinness World Records' record of 396 wooden train whistles blown simultaneously, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The Guinness World Records' record for the most people blowing train whistles simultaneously is 1,127, achieved by Friends of the Chatham Historical Society (USA) in Chatham, New Jersey, USA, on 14 June 2014.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people blowing whistles simultaneously; it is 37,552 participants at an event organised by the Asthma Foundation of Queensland at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia, on 5 September 2008.

    The previous Guinness World Records' record-holder was a small town in Utah, which had 396 people blowing at once.

    The world record attempt was part of a tie-in to the centennial celebration of the Chatham Train Station and the annual Fishawak Festival.

   At the event, Chatham Mayor Bruce Harris said the turnout was "amazing" and called the day "a great way to celebrate Chatham as a community."
