Most multiple-birth children in a single class: Richardson school sets world record

RICHARDSON, TX, USA--With 10 sets of twins and one set of triplets in the junior class ( 23 juniors in all), the Pearce High School in Richardson sets the new world record for the most multiple-birth children in a single class
.
"I only call them by last names, because I don't know the identical ones apart," said senior assistant principal Chakosha Powell, who was the freshman assistant principal during the multiples' first year at Pearce.

The twins and triplets ? 23 juniors in all ? are used to the confusion.

Many of the Pearce twins said they were surprised to be world-record holders. They said they've gotten so used to seeing twins everywhere at school ? in some cases, since grade school ? that they hardly notice.

Last year, when the Pearce juniors were sophomores, they tied a Guinness world record for most twins in one class, 10 sets.

Pearce shared that mark with Raymond J. Grey Junior High School in Acton, Mass. Overall, the junior class at Pearce has 429 students.

The previous Guinness world record was seven sets of twins in one class at Fredonia High School in Fredonia, N.Y.

Pearce claimed sole possession of the Guinness world record when Guinness World Records officials decided to create a new category for most multiple-birth students in a class.
That allowed the Richardson school to count its set of triplets ? Bradley, David and Luke Bailey ? alongside its 20 twins.

Other grades at Pearce aren't far behind: the freshman and sophomore classes each have seven sets of twins and the senior class has six.
"I have been going to school with at least three sets of twins since kindergarten," Dani Glazer, twin sister of Jackie, said. "It has been cool to watch the group get bigger."

The Guinness world record for the Oldest Twins Male was set by Glen and Dale Moyer (USA), both of whom reached 105.

Guinness World Records also recognized the Largest gathering of twins - opposite sex, set by a total of 806 pairs of opposite sex fraternal twins gathered at Chung-Shan Hall, Taipei, Taiwan.
