 Most heads shaved simultaneously: Hills Relay For Life breaks Guinness world record

KELLYVILLE, Australia -- The 77 brave souls who had their heads shaved and the generous hairdressers who gave up their time at The Hills Relay For Life at Kellyville have succeeded in breaking the Guinness World Records' record; 77 people and 77 hairdressers met the challenge and set the new world record for the Most heads shaved simultaneously (Most people shaving their own heads simultaneously), according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

The previous Guinness World Records' record for the most people shaving their own heads simultaneously was 57 and was organised by Nancy Salvage (Canada) at the Terry Fox Run at H.H. Knoll Park in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada, on 19 September 2010.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most people shaving simultaneously; it is 2,150 and was achieved in an event organized by Masoutis and sponsored by Gillette (both Greece), in Thessaloniki, Greece, on 18 March 2012.

  The world record head shave was part of the annual Hills Relay For Life held on May 4 at Wrights Road Reserve, Kellville.

  Organiser Denise Daynes said she was absolutely thrilled and congratulated everyone involved.

  She credited the amount of money raised by everyone in the head shave for making the 2013 Hills Relay For Life a record breaker for the Cancer Council.

  The event raised a staggering $393,849, more than $100,000 more than the 2012 relay which was a record breaker itself, The Telegraph (Australia) reported.
