  Most costumed people dancing the Charleston: Australia breaks Guinness world record (VIDEO)

Blue Mountain, NSW, Australia -- More than 280 people from as far afield as the NSW Far North Coast, Queensland and even New York dressed in 1920s gear and gathered in Leura Mall and smashed the Guinness world record for the most costumed people dancing the Charleston, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

Guinness World Records recognized the world record for the Most costumed people dancing the Charleston set at the Vintage Swing Festival in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in April 2008 of 250 dancers.

 The Guinness world record for the longest Riverdance line was achieved by 652 participants at an event organised by Jig: The Irish Dancing Documentary (USA) at Opryland Hotel, Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

  Local Liberal politicians helped make up the numbers with State MP Roza Sage and Macquarie Federal MP Louise Markus seen kicking up their heels in the front rows. Blue Mountains Mayor Daniel Myles was also part of the event.

  The event officially launched Blue Mountains Lithgow and Oberon Tourism's Roaring 20s Festival and all that Jazz to be held at various venues throughout the region during February.
