  Largest gathering of fairies: The Flutter for Fairies breaks Guinness  world record

IPSWICH, UK -- A total of 820 people gathered on the Cornhill in Ipswich last weekend with their wings, wands and tutus to raise money for the Woolverstone Wish appeal, to refurbish the chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital and beat the previous Guinness world record of 786 people , according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/ .

 The Guinness world record for the largest gathering of fairies was achieved by 786 participants at an event organised by Anna's Hope (UK) at Burghley Park, in Stamford, UK, on 19 August 2012.

  Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest gathering of people dressed as leprechauns; it was achieved by 1,263 participants in an event organised by Bandon Town (Ireland) in Bandon, Ireland.

  Co-organiser Sharon Wragg, a conveyancing executive at Kerseys Solicitors, said: "We have raised £2,044.70 in total, which is an absolutely fantastic amount. We are all really grateful to everyone who turned out and helped make it such an amazing day."

  The 44-year-old said the charity was close to the heart of everyone at Kerseys after colleague Judy Sykes was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma.

  The Woolverstone Wish appeal is raising money to refurbish the chemotherapy outpatient clinics and day unit in the Woolverstone Wing of Ipswich Hospital.
