Oldest Nintendo player: 100-year-old Kathleen Connell sets world record (Video)

East Renfrewshire, UK -- Kathleen Kit Connell, known as Kit, a 100-year-old woman, who has revealed the secret to staying sharp in old age (playing video games on her Nintendo DS Lite) - sets the world record for the Oldest Nintendo player, according to World Record Academy (www.worldrecordacademy.com).

The Guinness world record for the smallest Nintendo home entertainment system was set by the Wii. Measuring just 44 x 157 x 215 mm, the Wii is much less bulky than any of its other Nintendo predecessors. With a mass of just 1.2 kg, the Wii is lighter than either the Xbox 360 or the PS3.

Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the most common puzzle game for Nintendo DS, set by Sudoku, the classic number puzzle, which has been released in 20 different versions for the platform as of November 2010.

Kathleen Connell claims that her longevity and sharp mind almost entirely down to her Nintendo DS gaming device.

She said she does not feel a day over 80 which she puts down to her Nintendo machine which she plays most days. She spends most of her day on the thing and packs it in about 10pm when her brain feels a "a bit addled."

Kathleen, who lives in East Renfrewshire in Scotland, said she used to have trouble remembering things until she got the toy.

According to the Nintendo brain trainer she has a brain of a 64 year old which is not bad for someone who has had a telegram from the queen.

And the grandmother-of-one, who still lives independently, said she has used the Nintendo DS Lite, so much she even wore out her first console and had to replace the computer.

Her secret to staying young at her age has nothing to do with her diet, vitamin supplements or daily exercise. It's her red Nintendo DS and the dozen (or so) games she owns, including Scrabble, Art Academy and Brain Training.

Kit, who according to the game has the mental age of 64, said: "It's absolutely super. I don't feel a day over 80. I can't speak highly enough of it."
