  Most people playing Monopoly: Wycombe Abbey breaks Guinness World Records record

    High Wycombe, UK -- Wycombe Abbey School successfully passed 'Go' to set a new World Record this week for the 'most people playing Monopoly in a single venue'; 585 students and staff gathered for the occasion and played 84 separate games of Monopoly to break the Guinness World Records world record previously held by NC State University Housing in the USA, according to the World Record Academy .

The Guinness World Records world record for the most people playing Monopoly is 585 and was achieved by Wycombe Abbey (UK) in High Wycombe, UK, on 14 December 2015.

     Guinness World Records also recognized the world record for the largest simultaneous game of Monopoly; it was achieved with 2,918 people at 21 locations world wide and on a website organised by Hasbro, on 27 August 2008.


    The Mayor of High Wycombe Mohammed Hanif also attended to show his support and volunteers from One Can Trust and the British Legion acted as external witnesses.



    Headmistress Rhiannon Wilkinson said: "I am delighted by our success and what a joyful way to end the term. I hope it will be a very long time until anyone else tries to break our record."
